Flexible cellphones can be rolled up, folded and etc



The concept of a smartphone that can be bent actually been discussed since the 1960s. The concept is to create a flexible electronic devices and assemble the plastic is also flexible.


In 2005, Philips had demonstrated the first prototype of the display can be rolled up.

To create a product that is flexible, all the parts would have to be flexible, including optical and backplanem frontplane (the transistor). So is the battery, external frame, touch screen, and other components should also be flexible.


Imagine if your phone like a piece of paper. Can be rolled, dropped, or tucked in a backpack but will not be damaged at all. Gee would be cool huh?

The researchers are currently developing such handsets, the razor-thin handset, such as paper and can be bent. The prototype phone was available and on display at various exhibitions gadgets. The prototype has attracted the attention of many people.

Some rumors said that the cell phone that can be bent as it would appear for the first time starting next year. Today many companies that are developing technologies, such as LG, Philips, Sharp, Sony and Nokia.

But according to some reports, as quoted by the BBC, Monday (03/12/2012), the South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung will be the first company to launch a mobile phone as it was in 2013.

Samsung to use OLED technology (Organic Light Emitting Diode) are flexible on the smartphone. Samsung believes that this phone will be very popular among consumers.

"The screen can be folded, rolled, and so on, and has a high resistance because it uses a plastic coating that is thinner, lighter and more flexible than conventional LCD technology", said a spokesman for Samsung.
